Dr. Johanna K. P. Dennis teaches Property, Civil Procedure, Contracts, and Legal Communication & Research at the College of Law.
Dennis brings a wealth of law school experiences to the College, including teaching contracts, property, civil procedure, first-year legal writing, immigration, and intellectual property, and directing an upper-level legal writing curriculum. Dennis develops courses and instructional methods to help students achieve learning outcomes. Over her career, she has mentored numerous students in immigration externship opportunities and pro bono research projects. In private practice and the non-profit sector, she has represented clients in immigration benefits cases and removal proceedings before federal agencies. Dennis’s major research projects involve the intersection of higher education and immigration policies, and the impact of intellectual property on access to health care and medicine.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts in French from Rutgers University, a J.D. from Temple University James E. Beasley School of Law, a Master of Science in Biotechnology from Johns Hopkins University Zanvyl Krieger School of Arts and Sciences, and a Master of Arts in Education and a Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Leadership from Trident University College of Education.
Dennis is admitted to the New York and Pennsylvania bars, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, and the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office as a Registered Patent Attorney. She also holds a Certificate of Qualification from the Federation of Law Societies of Canada.
Dennis is an avid gardener who enjoys traveling and the company of her cats.
