Stephan Stohler is an associate professor of political science at Syracuse University’s Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs. He holds both a JD and a PhD in political science from the University of Pennsylvania. Stohler’s scholarship examines the politics of rights, with particular attention to how courts and other political actors shape constitutional meaning. He is the author of Reconstructing Rights: Courts, Parties, and Equality Rights in India, South Africa, and the United States, and is currently working on a new book that analyzes free speech and association in the digital age.
