Ryan J. Suto, Distinguished Lecturer, joined the Syracuse University College of Law for the fall of 2025. He will teach Voting Rights Law and Policy as part of the JDi program.
Ryan is also the Senior Manager of Government Affairs at FairVote, where he has worked since 2021. From 2017 to 2021 Ryan worked at the Arab American Institute where he served as Policy Counsel and founded the National Arab American Bar Association (NAABA).
Ryan has served as a co-moderator for the Process of Policy Lecture Series at the Maxwell School’s Center for Policy Design and Governance since the fall of 2023. In 2020 Ryan received the Outstanding Alumni Award from the Philosophy Department at Penn State University, and in 2019 he co-authored an amicus brief in the U.S. Supreme Court case Dept. of Commerce v. New York. His current research and work focuses on electoral system reform and voting rights.
Ryan completed the Law and Public Diplomacy program at Syracuse University in 2013, concurrently earning a JD from the College of Law, an MA in International Relations from the Maxwell School, and an MS in Public Relations from the Newhouse School. He earned a BA in Philosophy and a BA in Political Science, both from Penn State University.
Ryan is barred as an active attorney in the District of Columbia.
