The Journal of Advocacy and Litigation Publishes First Volume

The Journal of Advocacy and Litigation, an online peer-reviewed journal dedicated to promoting the exchange of advocacy-related ideas, has published its first volume. The Journal was launched in 2025 by Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law, Syracuse University College of Law, Texas Southern University, Thurgood Marshall School of Law, University of Illinois College of Law, and the University of San Francisco School of Law to foster an ongoing scholarly conversation about advocacy and litigation across institutions, disciplines, and perspectives.

The first volume features seven articles examining deposition practice, criminal representation skills, ethics of using generative artificial intelligence in criminal defense, access to jury trials, the use of video evidence, and criminal appeals.

All authors are also invited to present their work at the Journal’s annual symposium in the spring.

The Journal will begin accepting articles for volume 2 in late January 2027. Articles may be submitted through Scholastica, or via email to journal@tjal.org. Additional information may be found at www.tjal.org .
