Thomas Bernardin L’28 and Amelia Dias L’28 prevailed over Emily DenHaese L’27 and Josephine Estrada-Jones L’27 at the 55th Annual Mackenzie Hughes LLP, Edmund H. Lewis Appellate Advocacy Competition.

The award for Best Brief went to DenHaese and Estrada-Jones. Best Advocate was awarded to Bernardin.

Twelve two-person teams of second- and third-year Syracuse Law students competed during the preliminary rounds.

Sponsored by Mackenzie Hughes LLP, the competition honors the legacy of the Hon. Edmund H. Lewis L’1909, a distinguished Syracuse Law alumnus, former partner at Mackenzie Hughes LLP, and Chief Judge of the New York Court of Appeals.

The final round was judged by Hon. Bernadette T. Clark L’89, Hon. Theodore “Ted” Limpert L’88, Professor Danielle Wild L’15; and Michael Gadarian.

The competition director was Alexis Phillips L’27.
