The Hon. James E. Baker, professor of law and director of the Syracuse University Institute for Security Policy and Law, spoke with WHAM about the delays in the trial of 9/11 suspects. Among the legal factors contributing to the delay are evidentiary concerns, the use of a new court system being used for the trial, the transition of lawyers and judges involved with the case, and more than 8,000 motions.
“One of the concerns about the delay is that the American public, including the generation that has been born and came of age after 9/11, needs to hear and understand what 9/11 was about and its impact on America,” Baker said about the delay.
