The Hon. James E. Baker Weighs in on President Trump Invoking National Security to Defend Policies and Projects

The Hon. James E. Baker, director of the Syracuse University Institute for Security Policy and Law, spoke with the Arizona Daily Star on President Trump’s use of national security to defend policies and projects. National security has been used to defend construction projects, ban media outlets from the White House, and impose tariffs.

“If an administration strains credulity, that jeopardizes the traditional deference presidents of the nation have received from the public, from courts, and from allies when invoking national security and doing so in good faith," said Baker.
