CLE: What Every Matrimonial and Family Law Attorney Should Know About Education Law
Wednesday, March 26
5 – 7 p.m. | CLE 2-hour program
7 – 8 p.m. | Meet & Greet with the speakers
Syracuse Law is proud to host the New York State Bar Association’s CLE session, What Every Matrimonial and Family Law Attorney Should Know About Education Law.
Education law plays a critical role in nearly every matrimonial and family matter involving school-aged children, yet it is often overlooked in contested custody cases. This session will provide valuable insights into key legal issues such as determining a child’s residency for school enrollment, parental authority in decisions regarding student matters like pickup and drop-off, special education considerations, and how school districts interpret court orders on custody, guardianship, and orders of protection. The session will also cover compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act in cases where parents disagree over student records.
Led by a knowledgeable panel, this CLE offers attendees the opportunity to ask questions and explore practical applications of education law in family and matrimonial cases. This is an in-person event with no virtual option, and participants will earn two CLE credits for their attendance.
