Kathy Fox
Kathy is the Assistant Dean of Enrollment Management. Kathy brings a wealth of experience and success in law admissions to the College of Law. Her impressive track record of improving class credentials and fostering diversity year after year makes her a valuable addition to our team. As Assistant Dean of Enrollment Management, Kathy will develop enrollment goals and financial aid strategies, analyze data to predict entering class profiles, review admissions applications, and ensure compliance with ABA standards and applicable laws.
Before joining us, Kathy served as the Assistant Dean of Admissions at Wayne State University Law School from 2016 to 2023. During her tenure, she led a highly effective admissions operation that consistently enrolled a more highly credentialed and diverse class each year. Kathy’s commitment to excellence extends beyond admissions, as she will also collaborate with the Director of Graduate and Law Financial Aid in managing financial aid and providing strategic leadership for our J.D. programs. Kathy’s impressive professional journey includes previous roles, such as deputy director of the Office of Career and Professional Development at Thomas M. Cooley Law School and serving as an associate at Haliw Siciliano & Mychalowych. She also gained valuable experience as a law clerk to Senior Judge E. Anne McKinsey of the Hennepin County District Court in Minneapolis. She holds a J.D. from what is now Mitchell Hamline School of Law, where she earned her degree in 1998. Additionally, Kathy achieved her MBAa degree from the University of St. Thomas – Opus College of Business in the same year. Her educational journey began with a BA degree in history from the University of Wisconsin in Oshkosh.
Steve Budgar
Steve Budgar is the Director of Admissions and joined the College of Law in February of 2018. Steve received his Associate’s in Business Administration from Finger Lakes Community College, Bachelor’s in Business Administration from The College at Brockport, and Master’s in Management from Nazareth College. Before joining the SU Law Admissions Office Steve spent 15 years as the Assistant Director of Admissions at NY Chiropractic College.
Budgar also teaches in the business department at Finger Lakes Community College and Keuka College and coaches high school football for the Geneva High Panthers. Steve is involved with all aspects of the recruitment, evaluation, and enrollment of prospective students.
Kristin Shea
Kristin Shea is the Director of Financial Aid for the College of Law and has served in various roles with the College for more than a decade; as Financial Aid Coordinator and Assistant Director of Financial Aid, and as part of the College’s Advancement Team, overseeing alumni relations and annual fund-raising activities.
Shea holds a BA in biology and minor in psychology from Le Moyne College in Syracuse, where she also earned an MBA with a concentration in marketing. Shea worked in Le Moyne’s Office of Alumni and Parent Programs and the Office of Career Services. She has additional professional experience working in both the corporate and non-profit sectors, in marketing, fund-raising, event planning and human resources.
Shea connects current and prospective students with resources for financing their legal education and counsels students and alumni on budgeting, fiscal responsibility and post-graduate loan repayment.
Danielle Burgo
Danielle Burgo is the Associate Director of Admissions, joining the team in 2016. Burgo earned her Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and psychology from Roger Williams University. Prior to joining the Office of Admissions and Financial Aid, Burgo worked in Faculty Support at the College of Law and is a certified title examiner in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Burgo is involved with all aspects of the recruitment, evaluation, and enrollment of prospective students.
Cheryl Hosford
Cheryl Hosford is the Admissions and Operations Coordinator, joining the team in 2023. Cheryl has over 25 years of experience in higher education, counseling students in everything from trade school, to undergrad, to doctoral programs. Most of her career was spent at NY Chiropractic College where she served as Admissions Coordinator, Assistant Director of Admissions Operations, and Director of Admissions.
Hosford is involved with all aspects of the recruitment, evaluation, and enrollment of prospective students.
Evangelos Theodorou is the Admissions Operations Specialist at the College of Law. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Public Justice from SUNY Oswego. Prior to joining the Office of Admissions and Financial Aid, he worked at Cornell Law School where he held the position of JD Admissions Coordinator.
Evangelos is involved in all aspects of the evaluation and enrollment of prospective students.
