Visitor Access to the Law Library

As a unit of the College of Law, the Law Library primarily serves the research needs of College of Law students, faculty, and staff.  In addition the Law Library welcomes visitors on limited days & hours during the academic year.  Visitors include Syracuse University (non-Law) students and faculty, College of Law alumni, and members of the general public. 

The Law Library welcomes visitors on the following days & times*:

  • Monday – Thursday:  8am – 7pm
  • Friday:   8am – 5pm

*Please note: Visitor hours are suspended during College of Law study periods and exams.  Summer & Semester Break hours may also vary. Visitors are encouraged to visit our Library Hours web page in advance of travel to ensure that the Law Library is observing Visitor hours on a particular day.

Dineen Hall and the Law Library are not open to visitors on the weekends.  A College of Law ID is needed to access the building and Law Library on days & times other than those listed above.

Reference Librarians are available to help researchers locate legal and/or government information.  Library staff, however, do not provide legal advice or interpretation of the law.  Visitors are encouraged to contact the Reference Desk (phone: 315.443.9572, e-mail: in advance, to determine, if and how, the Law Library may help them.
