Maria Cudowska is a Visiting Teaching Professor. She teaches Environmental Law, Business Associations, and seminars focused on National Security and Alternative Dispute Resolution. Her research interests include dispute resolution and the wellness industry, food law and policy, and arbitration. Her article “Wellness Disputes” is forthcoming in the UMKC Law Review. Her scholarship has also appeared in the Journal of Food Law & Policy (University of Arkansas) and in several European law reviews.
Cudowska currently serves as an Executive Committee Member of the AALS Section on Post-Graduate Legal Education. In 2025, she was named a Syracuse University Art Museum Faculty Fellow. In 2024, she was awarded an Outstanding Young Scholar Stipend from the Polish Ministry of Higher Education. Her project “Not Another River Dispute! Muddying the Waters of International Collaboration: a Case Study of the Oder River Poisoning” won the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs Collaborative Governance Initiative Competition in 2023.
Professor Cudowska obtained an LL.M. in the American Legal System from Michigan State University College of Law. She obtained a Ph.D. in law, postgraduate degree in legal translation, and law degree (the equivalent of a U.S. undergraduate degree) from the University of Bialystok, Poland. Prior to joining Syracuse University College Law, Cudowska taught courses in Commercial Law, International Commercial Law, Insolvency, and Dispute Resolution at the University of Bialystok Faculty of Law.
