David Reed has practiced international law for 30 years, helping clients around the globe identify risks, license technology, and manage growth opportunities. His focus has been pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturing and regulations. As in-house counsel for Bristol-Myers Squibb and Bayer, he negotiated supply contracts, resolved employment disputes, conducted inspections and investigations, and handled regulatory matters for facilities in the US, EU, and Asia.

At ImClone, Reed led the successful defense of an international arbitration claim valued at more than $1 billion. As Osteotech’s first General Counsel, he conducted a Sarbanes Oxley investigation and helped the company navigate the implementation of FDA medical device regulations— for the first time ever— to its entire portfolio of human bone and tissue products.

Reed Business Law PC, founded in 2007 by Reed, serves clients ranging from large, international healthcare companies to tech start-ups located throughout the US, Germany, Switzerland, Finland, and South Korea, where it has an office and several shared clients with the Spring Partners and the Cha Kwan Law Firms in Seoul.

In addition to arbitration, Reed advises pro bono non-profit clients, and participates in state and local economic development initiatives. He holds a patent for a product that assists in the repair of human tissue during joint replacement.

Currently an adjunct professor teaching International Business Transactions at the College of Law, as well as at Al Yamamah College of Law in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Reed has been an officer of multiple not-for-profits, is an Advisory Board Member for the Northeast Hawley Development Association and Board Member of the New York State Association of Incarcerated Education Programs.

Reed received his B.A. in Government Studies from Dartmouth College after three years of study and his J.D., with a concentration in International and Real Estate Law, from Syracuse University College of Law. He is admitted to practice law in New York, the First Circuit Court of Appeals and the Northern District for the Second Circuit, and is in retired status in both Florida and Massachusetts.
