Raul Velez III L’18

Raul Velez III, L’18 joins the College of Law as an Adjunct Professor at the College of Law and a Trial Attorney with Oresky & Associates, PLLC. In his academic role, Velez teaches Deposition Practice, Advanced Deposition Practice, is an instructor for the Trial Practice Residency, and is a guest lecturer for several trial practice courses. Velez is also a co-creator and co-director of the first-of-its-kind Syracuse Deposition Competition.

In practice, he has tried cases to verdict and secured substantial settlements on behalf of hundreds of clients in high stakes matters, including traumatic brain injury, construction site accidents, wrongful death, premises liability, motor vehicle collisions, and legal malpractice. Prior to joining Oresky & Associates, he served as a Trial Attorney at Sobo & Sobo, LLP, where he focused primarily on orthopedic injury and traumatic brain injury cases. He has been recognized with a Top 100 Verdict in New York State and named to the Top 40 Under 40 by The National Trial Lawyers.

While in law school, he spent several semesters as an Honors Intern at the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in Washington, D.C. While at the SEC, he received an award for Outstanding Service to the United States Securities and Exchange Commission. He was also an award-winning member of the Syracuse Trial Team and competed both regionally and nationally.
