Linda S. Whitton joins the College of Law as a part-time visiting professor to teach Property law in the JDinteractive program. She is Professor Emerita of Law, Valparaiso University Law School, where she held the Seegers Distinguished Professor Chair. Whitton is the Reporter for two Uniform Acts—the Uniform Power of Attorney Act (2006) and the Uniform Recognition of Substitute Decision-Making Documents Act (2014).

Professor Whitton is known nationally and internationally for her scholarship and law reform work in the areas of durable powers and guardianship and has provided guidance to many state law reform study committees as well as the countries of Australia, Canada, and South Korea.

She is a retired Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel and has served in numerous leadership positions within the ABA Section of Real Property, Trust and Estate Law and the AALS Section of Aging and the Law.

Whitton earned a B.A with High Distinction from Valparaiso University, followed by graduation from the Valparaiso University Law School, first in her class. Before commencing her academic career, she served as law clerk to the Hon. S. Hugh Dillin, United States District Court for the Southern District of Indiana and practiced business and commercial real estate law in Indianapolis.
