Adjunct Professor J. Sam Rodgers teaches Legal Communications and Research II and the Legal Foundations residency for the JDinteractive program.. Rodgers is the Chief Assistant District Attorney in Madison County, New York. Rodgers prosecutes all crimes against children and sex offenses for the office and has prosecuted various other categories of felony and misdemeanor cases in his career.
In his role as a child victim prosecutor, Rodgers directs the Madison County MultiDisciplinary Team (“MDT”) tasked with investigating and prosecuting all child abuse complaints in the county. The MDT is comprised of investigators, case workers, and medical professionals who meet monthly to discuss cases and collaborate strategies.
Rodgers also serves as an appellate lawyer for the office, and has argued before the New York State Appellate Division and the New York Court of Appeals. As of November 2025, Rodgers is also cross designated as a Special Assistant United States Attorney for the Northern District of New York.
Beyond the office and classroom, Rodgers has testified before state commissions and participated in criminal justice lobbying efforts at the New York State Legislature. He also presents at conferences across the country on attorney wellness, health, and work management practices.
Rodgers received his J. D. from Cornell Law School in 2019, an M.P.A. from Syracuse University’s Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs in 2020, and a B.S. from Syracuse University in 2015.
