Dr. Fitore Hyseni joins the College of Law in Spring 2026 as a Research Assistant Professor of Law. She will lead disability and employment law empirical research.

Dr. Hyseni serves as the Director of Research at the Burton Blatt Institute at Syracuse University, where she oversees the development and management of grant-funded research projects focused on improving socio-economic outcomes for people with disabilities.

Her primary research interests include disability rights and employment and economic empowerment of people with disabilities. She is co-editor of Research in Social Science and Disability: Disability and the Future of Work, Volume 16, published by Emerald (2025). Her research has appeared in publications including the Journal of Occupational Rehabilitation, Journal of Cancer Survivorship, American Journal of Law & Medicine, and Journal of Participation and Employee Ownership. She has presented her work at conferences including the Academy of Management, American Sociological Association, the Association for Public Policy Analysis and Management, and the Labor and Employment Relations Association.

Dr. Hyseni serves as co-Principal Investigator and Project Director of the Disability Employment Policy Rehabilitation Research and Training Center, funded by the National Institute on Disability, Independent Living, and Rehabilitation Research ($4.6 million). She serves as co-Principal Investigator and Project Director for the Phase Two evaluation of California Digital Psychiatric Advance Directives ($2.3 million). She leads numerous federal and state, and privately funded projects addressing disability employment policy, workplace accommodations, financial inclusion, and housing accessibility.

Her work has been recognized by numerous awards and grants from federal agencies and professional organizations.

Dr. Hyseni received a Ph.D. in Social Science and a Master’s in Public Administration from Syracuse University, and a B.S. in public policy and economics from Rochester Institute of Technology.
